This area demonstrates the British Sign Language (BSL) video and audio guidance prepared with the help of accessibility groups and trialled during the 2009 Census Rehearsal.
Research is continuing with these groups to further develop video and audio assistance for the 2011 Census. This will help people with sight or hearing impairments to complete their 2011 Census questionnaire. Other accessible formats will follow, including Braille guidance booklets and large print questionnaires, and translation booklets in more than 50 languages
The video and audio clips provide guidance for all the questions, including extra questions that apply only to people living in Wales. Audio clips have been created in both English and Welsh. Specific advice is given about how to include visitors and any special circumstances relating to usual household members.
