Census Collectors

From 1 November 2010, we will be recruiting census collectors on fixed-term contracts (21 March 2011 – 6 May 2011 or 6 April 2011 – 6 May 2011). Collectors will be responsible for contacting householders who haven’t yet returned their completed 2011 Census questionnaires. This requires working varied hours including up to 8pm (Monday to Saturday) and between 10am and 4pm (Sunday). To help them carry out this work to the high standard required, they will receive detailed instructions and be fully trained. They will be part of a team reporting to a census coordinator while carrying out this role. The post involves working outside and visiting a number of residential premises within a set area. Census collectors will also have a bag containing spare questionnaires and other supplies which they will have to keep with them while working.
